Watched this film 5 times in theaters and it got me every time. It's a simple yet powerful and layered story about family that also showcases the nuanced differences between Eastern and Western philosophies without diminishing one or the other. Great performances, unique storytelling, stunning cinematography, and beautiful score. One of the best films of the year that everybody can relate to. It's a particularly special film for Americans of Asian/Chinese descent in terms of representation.

I could be biased since I'm first-generation, Asian-American. BUT this film is as genuine and authentic as film can be. This, along with "Parasite" (Hey, another Asian film! ;)) and "Marriage Story" are the best films of the year. Awkwafina is pitch-perfect and Shuzhen Zhao (Nai Nai) is marvelous, an Oscar-worthy performance. The entire cast is so authentic, believable. Beautiful cinematography and editing (Reminded me of "Moonlight") and BEAUTIFUL, haunting score as well. THANK YOU Lulu Wang!
