The Dressmaker tells the story of the beautiful and talented Tilly Dunnage (Academy-Award winner Kate Winslet). After years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, Tilly returns home to a town in the Australian outback to reconcile with her eccentric mother Molly (Academy-Award nominee Judy Davis). I loved this film and so did my partner who surprisingly sat through the whole film although he was sceptical of the title. Wonderful casting which really bought the characters to life, interesting twists and turns. I laughed, I cried and very much enjoyed it. Wish there were more original films made like this.

It's a very confused film. It tried to do far too much. There were beautiful scenes and fleeting moments of laugh out loud material however there was little in the way of a story to hold it all together.

Was not sure if i was going to like this film at first but is was excellent. A tear, A laugh and a a brilliant story line .
