About this movie

Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite - confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.

Another good movie from Richard Ayoade who is becoming ever closer to being a British Wes Anderson. The premise of the movie is setup right at the start when the lead character is confronted by the head copyist in his office and asked why he only prints one copy and not two like everyone else. From this moment on a doppelganger moves in on the leads work, friends, love and life. Its an exploration of ones ego meeting your inner self doubt and how neither form a complete person. Its a well made movie, not up there with Ayoade's first but given the difficulty in production and subject matter shows creative progression. Also Hannah being a copyist is a nice touch.

Excellent effort by Richard Ayode resulted in a focused and very well directed film that follows a very specific vision. It first made me curious and then had me at the edge of the seat as the story unfolds up to the superb ending.

not sure what this film was all about. I suppose it is good if you like Orwell's 1984!
