This might be the worst of the New 52 movies. Adapting The Death of Superman for the New 52 was bound to force cuts here and there and that's fine. However, the writing, the dialogue, the one liners, the easter eggs, all of that was the worst. Lois Lane's stiff voice acting was also pretty bad. There was so much awkward and inconsistent animation as well, which is the worst offense. I mean, what is the point of making an animated movie that's already been told three times before (once in a live action movie, twice in animation) when the animation sucks. I really gotta stop watching these movies. It is not money well spent.

Hopefully, this is a decent start to a much bigger Superman universe. Unfortunately, the preview gave away everything important and while the pacing moved appropriately, the entire movie still felt like an hour and a half prologue, immediately followed by an epilogue that makes you wonder what the point of the movie even was. I was glad to see the cameo of Conner Kent (Superboy I) and I hope to see more of him. And I was ecstatic over the confirmation of a bisexual Superman! We live in a world that is extremely diverse, and Superman has always been about that. So while the movie was a cinematic and storytelling disappointment, it was true to the source, which many fans will appreciate.

Don't spend money on it. If you must watch it, rent it, do not buy it The story isn't the problem this time; It's the production value. The animation is f'ing horrendous; it's bad enough to be a distraction. Superman looks deformed most of the time, like a middle schooler drew it. Faces look different / deformed from shot to shot. Warner animation is garbage anymore; it's barely watchable. Throw in a chase scene down an absurdly long hallway, limbs that don't move and they'll have nailed it. Yay. They did a faithful retell of the story...out of turd molds. There's nothing to rave about. Be pissed. Don't accept garbage; they'll just give us more. Hell even the voice work is shaky.
