About this movie

From the creators of Coraline and ParaNorman comes a magical family adventure about heroes in all shapes and sizes: the Boxtrolls. Quirky, mischievous and good-hearted, these box-wearing creatures have lovingly raised a human boy named "Eggs" (voiced by Isaac Hempstead Wright) in a charming cavern below the bustling streets of Cheesebridge. But when evil Archibald Snatcher (voiced by Ben Kingsley) decides to capture the lovable misfits, it's up to Eggs and his feisty young friend Winnie (voiced by Elle Fanning) to save the Boxtrolls. "Also featuring the voice talents of Jared Harris, Nick Frost, Toni Collette and Tracy Morgan, critics are calling The Boxtrolls "A delectable treat!" -- Brian Truitt, USA Today.

Well, the movie looked great. Said it was available for 30 days. My daughter and I go to watch it after it was ordered, and its gone. We have to order it again. I got a promotional from my Chromecast so I thought I'd try. Glad I didn't spend my money on it. Sorry Google saying its good for 30 days should mean exactly that. I will continue to use Amazon. I may only be able to cast from computer, but at least they are reliable.

Okay, yeah, animations are my favorite movies, growing up with the great Warner Brothers cartoons of the late 50s and 60s and the Disney animated movies of the same era, sets a fairly high standard for the new movies to meet. The Boxtrolls easily makes the grade. I was immediately drawn into the movie, the world around me simply went away. To me, THAT'S what makes a good movie! Eggs is so likeable, the Boxtrolls so cute and industrious, and the villain so despicable, that I wasn't even bothered by his extremely well deserved, not as gross as it could have been, demise. This scene is kept in check by the creative tracking back, out to the pasture, the origin of his nemesis. Jelly!

For the most part its cute...for kids. Adults or teenagers will get board or horrified from this claymation madhouse. It gives me bad feelings and I dont want to watch the rest or any of it for that matter. Im not scared of puppets or animation or claymation....its just wierd
