A24 has been my favorite film studio for some time now. I love how almost all of their productions (I mostly watch the horror ones, with some drama sprinkled in) are smart, narratively effective, and beautiful in every sense of the word. This film is no different. It is an eerily beautiful and atmospheric [art-house] horror film about the pitfalls of loneliness and desperation. It is a bit slow at times, and the ending could've afforded a bit more clarity...just enough to maintain the dreamlike quality of the film. (NOTE: I do enjoy a thought-provoking twist, but this one was a bit too ambiguous in my opinion).

A lot of interesting setup and a clear vision from the director but nothing adds up to anything substantial or meaningful. Disappointing considering his Netflix original film was also very experimental but did have something to say by the end. Wait and watch it on Netflix (or get Amazon Prime) for the performances but don't waist your money on Blackcoat's Daughter

I watched this on Netflix, the plot looked interesting. It moves very slow, but I liked the actors. Some scenes were a bit confusing as well as the end, which I had to look up on Google to understand. After I read it though,it made sense. A lot of people are going to find this boring, it isn't scary it's mostly psychological. Overall I thought it was okay. Watch on Netflix if you can to save the rental fee.
