About this movie

The Assistant follows one day in the life of Jane (Emmy® Award winner Julia Garner, Ozark), a recent college graduate and aspiring film producer, who has recently landed her dream job as a junior assistant to a powerful entertainment mogul. But as Jane follows her daily routine, she, and we, grow increasingly aware of the abuse that insidiously colors every aspect of her workday, an accumulation of degradations against which Jane decides to take a stand, only to discover the true depth of the system into which she has entered. Also starring Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), The Assistant is "a powerful movie about the ways power enforces silence" (Vanity Fair).

Boring, boring, boring. Lack of appreciation for people who clean waste paper bins and wash other people's dishes at the office is bad but took up way too much time relative to the other issues barely alluded to. Kept watching thinking it would resolve in a good way but the movie maintained it's almost snail pace to a face plant finish. 'Tomatometer' is BS and not a credible guide.

Pretty bad. I was very much looking forward to this, but there was no storyline whatsoever. I kept waiting for it to pick up, but it was over after 1.5hrs of waiting for something to happen. I wish I had read the reviews before renting it. The only thing I can't understand is how it's at 91% on rotten tomatoes. Don't waste your time. Get a painting of medium grey and look at that instead.

Indie film; per se. Anticlimactic. I wanted to rate it higher but I just couldn't. The premises of the film showcases a mundane, repetitious day to day routine of an entry level worker. The film sheds a light on office misconduct as well as sexual harassment; a huge issue where many look the other way. All in all it has a good message, but just lacks substance outside of that. The movie doesn't do much to draw the viewer in.
