Realllly wanted it to be great, but it wasn't. In elementary school I ran to these tintin comics in the lil library for a lovely escape from all the real studies. So was looking forward to the movie big time. Watched it in theaters at 23yold and found myself a bit bored, though delighted by the art and nostalgia. That was years ago, but I still remember being both pleased and disappointed. I'll have to rent it one of these days to see if maybe I'd like it more upon a second watching. Did so love those comics as a child.

One of the best animated movies I've seen. The animation is really good, and the story is action-packed. One of the action sequences, where they are riding through a small town on motorcycles, reminded me of an Indiana Jones or Jason Bourne film. And don't even get me started on the amazing main villain. The ancestry of Haddick and the main villain, and how they're connected, was handled greatly without being heavy-handed. A great movie to see as a family and enjoy with popcorn.

The animation in this movie is spectacular, it almost looks real. The adventure is gripping and intense, like the first National Treasure. I also like how it shows the parallel between generations and the grudge that is held between Redracken and Haddock. The change between the story of the pirates taking over and Haddocks ancestor was flawless. When I saw it the first time, I was disappointed that it didn't show the treasure at the bottom of the sea and Tintin and Haddock finding it, but now I leave it to my imagination to see them finding the secret cargo at the bottom of the sea.
