About this movie

JB is a naïve Midwesterner whose strict Christian parents view his burning passion for heavy metal as a mortal sin. After his dad tears down every poster in his bedroom except for a Ronnie James Dio poster on the back of the door, the former Black Sabbath frontman instructs the aspiring young rocker to seek out his fortune no matter what the cost. Subsequently setting his sights on Hollywood and hell-bent to take the world of rock music by storm, JB sneaks out his bedroom window and makes his way to Venice Beach, where he soon meets guitar-strumming slacker KG. The rock duo now named Tenacious D set out on a quest to achieve musical immortality by stealing the mythical guitar pick said to instill its owner with unprecedented musical prowess.

Critics are just tight asses. They expect every movie to be the same old shit. This movie wasn't the same old shit. It wasn't when I first watched long ago and still isn't. This shit is funny. The songs are funny.... But they are really good. They sound like classic rock but they are better. Buy it rent it whatever you won't regret it.

Forever a D fan, I never got the chance to see this movie when it was released because I was in a car accident and hospitalized for months. Years passed in my recovery, and I was challenged more than I dare dream. I was also too broke to pay for the movie. Then, I got a job. 7 and a half years passed, I paid off all my debt, got my elecricity and internet back again, and I secured ownership of this storied tale. I watched it, after, like, 17 years...and it was O.K., I guess.

One of Jack's best movies! I was very engaged in the story, being the metalhead guitar lover that I am. This movie has an amazing charm, and i am in shock that this "green splat" (i have no idea who it is and it is not Rotten Tomatoes) gave this a 54%!
