About this movie

Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the ex-CIA operative who stopped at nothing to rescue his daughter from sadistic kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, it is Bryan and his wife who find themselves "taken" hostage in Istanbul. To survive, Bryan must enlist the help of an unlikely ally and use his brutally efficient skills to take out his heavily-armed foes one by one.

Every once in a while I hear someone talk about the best movie sequels, like "yeah, remember The Godfather 2? that was a great continuation of the first movie, excellent storytelling, good cinema work" and I usually end up walking away or (usually if I'm in an evaluator) vomiting on the floor out of pure bitterness. Watch that movie and think "wow, I'm glad I spent 180 minutes watching Al Pacino walk around and look frustrated instead of crashing the local anime convention piss drunk on mouthwash and breathing heavily on women who do not want to be there". Taken 2 is the first movie sequel in recent memory that I would almost rather watch than doing this. Hot off the heels of his first Taken movie, Liam Nealon is constantly angry and short with his family--but not short on the laughs! His daughter is like "but daaaAaAad my car license daaaaAaAd the Shakira concert daaaAAd you can't missile dropkick the guy I'm seeing daaAAAAaad blah blah girl things" and then Neeson looks directly into the camera and says "oh man this movie is "Taken 2" long to get moving" and I nearly blew out my o ring laughing in the theater. I was a big fan of all the fourth wall jokes, speaking of which you could have build a fourth wall in my shorts the amount of time I bricked during each gripping, authentic action sequence. What really set this one apart from the last movie were the fight scenes, all of which end with a shot of Neeson kicking someone in the junk while a ring bell sound effect plays before hard cutting to a close up of them crossing their eyes and shouting "aye yay yae Monsieur leeom neeson he keecked me in the oui oui!! " (This is only funny because the movie is set in Paris I think) by the eighth time this happened I think I herniated a disc. But oh man, thats not even like a quarter as good as what happens at the end. At the end of the movie Liam Neson squares off against the main villain in the instanbul market and the bad guy pulls a gun and he looks at him and he looks at his gun and he looks at lime Neeson again and he is like "Well we'll [Liam Neeson] looks like your stuck in Turkey !" and thats when Liam Neeson winks into the camera, does finger guns and screams "you're wrong ass munch, I'm gonna be [loud ambient chewing noise] stuffing the Turkey !!" and then he jams his entire forearm up the bad guy's ass, killing him instantly. Cut to black, "Directed by Oliver Stone" appears on the screen at the same time as the chorus of Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" starts playing at a volume louder than most of the movie's gunshots. I'm convinced the theatre caught fire when this happened. Popcorn being thrown, beer bottles being smashed, dogs fornicating, several ambulances, etc. Bonus points to the guy seated next to me who cancelled a tinder hail mary to catch the next Taken 2 showing an hour later. That's the power of this movie. 4/5 stars
