This was an attempt at creating a sequel of a classic movie. But this isn't even close to the original. I know time has passed and the world is a different place. It was a case of either don't go there or make a great film. Unfortunately this isn't a great film it's just nostalgic dropping a few hints to the first movie. I've watched it twice now to give it a chance and some bits are great but most of it is just a bit dull I'm sorry to say. I wanted to love this film I really did. Either I've changed from the 90's or this isn't as good as I hoped it was going to be...

Trainspotting is seminal, was original, launched many careers and, made soundtracks important again. This sequel achieves none of these things. There is some lovely Boyle camera trickery and invention. There are some poignant moments when middle age yearns for youth and the regret of choices made. Rentons 'choose life' rant is powerful but contrived and I kept thinking you're Obi wan Kenobi...what is there to moan about?

Danny..time to grow up. You were the attention-grabbing naughty boy now youre intruding. Let them have their own youth. Truth about the wrecks from the 90s aint so funny... That said if you like incredibly talented filmmaking this is to learn from and marvel at. Brilliant acting... script..directing...as expected from those at work here. Film should never have been made. Revisiting the past?..watch the original.
