About this movie

Big oil means big money. Very big money. And that fact unleashes corruption that stretches from Houston to Washington to the Mideast and ensnares industrialists, princes, spies, politicos, oilfield laborers and terrorists in a deadly, deceptive web of move and countermove. Very cerebral film so if you can't manage multiple story lines simultaneously, or follow along patiently then you're in over your head. It's a slow moving drama but at its best. I love how the film's theme - big oil - is spotlighted from several points of view. You've got CIA operatives, greedy/conniving oil execs, wealthy Arab royals, impoverished oilfield workers and young kids turned terrorists...pretty gripping stuff. Clooney is brilliant, Matt Damon is solid, and I've always felt that Jeffrey Wright (@jfreewright) was one of the most underrated actors of our time...his role in this film confirms it.

I can imagine seeing it in the theater would be difficult. But like a book sometimes you have to keep reading it over and over to really get the mint.
