About this movie

On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain "Sully" Sullenberger (Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. I'd say this is more of a 3 and 1/2 star movie, but that's not an option. It's well made, well performed and mostly well-directed. Some of the Safety Board stooges come off a bit too Dr Evil at times and Sully's wife certainly wouldn't enjoy how she was portrayed in the movie. She is portrayed as a cow or anything, just as somewhat annoying and not terribly bright. Despite being saccharine at times it's worth watching.

I did NOT go into movie wondering how they were going to extend the flight. I was curious after seeing trailers what more I could learn. Don't expect a disaster movie, this is deliberately paced, and in the end, you know more (I am basing this on NOT being from USA) about what happened (and more importantly what happened AFTER the incident). If you liked Gran Turino you will like this.

It's not particularly engaging. A simple movie that doesn't really say much except "I hero-worship this man". Not exciting. Not a character examination. Ordinary cinematography. It's inoffensively meh, but the hero-worship gets on my nerves.
