About this movie

On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

Interesting movie and well acted. Amazing feat of airmanship by the pilots. As an amateur pilot who has flown the B 737-800 sim several times I was interested in the Airbus sim. All of the clips shown had the pilot in command handling the throttles and on one occasion using reverse thrust on the landing. All of the shots had simulator engine sounds of throttling up and down. How is this achieved when both engines are out? It does not make any sense. I have made several dead-stick landings in both real and simulated flight conditions. If the fire is out, the throttles are not worth holding on to.

Wondrous story. I agree with the person who said something along the lines of... for once the movie was less dramatic than the actual event. Yet I liked it because it mirrored the stoic calm of Sully.

It is easy to forget that this really happened. As a film plot it would be mediocre but it's true! Can you imagine even being a passenger on that plane...never mind flying and landing it.
