This is by far the best Star Wars movie in my subjective opinion. The story is smooth and I never got bored. The plot is split up into three with Poe, Finn and Rey as they go through the story to find themselves, which a middle chapter should do. This movie has its issues but they don’t really bother me much, there is always that movie where people recognise the flaws but don’t care because it simple doesn’t bother them. The most compelling part of the movie is the Rey, Luke and Kylo ren scenes. They dive in deep into the force, what makes a legend and the how legends can fail. I’ll just say quickly that people claim Rey to be to powerful, she beats ren in 7 for the fact that he is injured both physically and mentally, she also doesn’t exactly know how to use a lightsaber she just kind of swings it around. Also people forget that it is actually the temptation of power that is hard not actually uses the force, if you pay attention in empire. One last note, people also forget that Luke says “for the briefest instinct...” he wasn’t going to do it, also Luke did the same thing in 6 but he actually went through with his attack. Poe’s story and that overall plot is great also, Poe learning how to be a leader and how to resolve situations without doing the classic blow up the bad guys weapon. People take issue with Holdo’s leading skills but as she stated to Poe he was demoted by Leia for his reckless actions and poorly following orders so that gives her insight to what type of person Poe is and what why she shouldn’t trust him. There is also the factor of that the first order is tracking them so a logical reasoning is that someone is feeding them information to the first order, so keeping the plan quiet is a way of ensuring that the plan will work. Finn and Roses arc I think is fine, it changes the scenery from a rock island and the insides of a ship, and I think it worked, we got some development for Finn learning to care about something other than Rey. The issue I see people having which I can see is that it is tonally disconnected from the rest of the film, being fun and exciting, classic Star Wars to the deep and thematical Rey and Poe parts. There is also the fact that the characters kind of slack off a bit as well, but that is almost a nitpick. One issue I don’t see people talk about is that it has one editing issue where the horse scene goes for too long and doesn’t cut away after a while. But like I said it doesn’t actually bother me but I know it is there. Overall I really loved this film, to me it is the best.

The only Star Wars film that i dislike. This movie singlehandedly brought down the sequel trilogy, hurting the legacy of both other trilogies in the process. An average movie on its own. But the problem is that it's part of a trilogy, and it's in a fictional universe with more history than any other. You can sum up the entire movie with one word: Mishandled (By Disney). It's the most disappointing movie I've ever seen and i feel sorry for the actors and crews that put their souls into it.

Looks and sounds great, but otherwise terrible. The worst starwars movie made. Full of stupid characters in a boring plot. Wasted opportunity to develop all characters and fill in back stories that tie in with previous movies. Instead we get dumb tactics where Rebels mostly die. Snoke and Phasma's as the only smart villains barely have an impact on the story and we learn little about them. Kylo Ren is inconsistent with existing lore of the darkside. Luke Skywalker makes no sense, so dissapointing, ruined the character. Rey is completely unrelatable, is an expert at everything without any challenges or failures. Poe is now just a reckless trigger happy child. The trip to the casino world was a needless distraction. The first order only had dumb white men leaders, no aliens, no smart interesting villains that survived. The first order passion for being evil is never explained and doesn't make sense. Sooooo bad, it reminds me of the transformer movies, but they are better.
