About this movie

Stardate: the 23rd Century. Retired Starfleet officers James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Montgomery Scott (James Doohan) and Pavel Chekov (Walter Koenig) are guests of honor aboard the newly christened Enterprise-B. A test run takes an unexpected turn, however, when the starship encounters two vessels trapped inside the Nexus, a mysterious energy ribbon. During a perilous rescue attempt, Kirk is swept out into space. Seven decades later, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of Enterprise-D rescue an El Aurian physicist named Soran (Malcolm McDowell). Unbeknownst to Picard, Soran harbors a deadly plan that includes the destruction of the Enterprise and millions of lives. Now Picard's only hope for a future rests within the Nexus... and a legendary captain from the past.

This was actually the first Star Trek movie that I watched. Even though I didn't know the characters from previous movies, I don't think I needed to, to enjoy the story (although I'm sure it would have elevated the experience). It was a very good introduction to the "franchise" (I hope that's the right word to use) and I would like to start from the first movie and see the world building. There was one part of the plot that I am not sure about how it worked, but I look forward to discussing it with friends and maybe making more sense of it and hopefully in the future finding time for the other movies/series.

Privet! I think this was Hollywood's most excellent execution of retiring older beloved movie series, who's characters became one's friends, and subtly blended a new friendship by equalizing both teams in importance, energy, like ability etc... so as the older faded, the newer already stole our friendship without grudging. It's like most perfect Music Medley where two different pieces of music are joined into one score, performed so well that entire Medley sound like one composition and not two!

This proved that the cast of the Next Generation series can carry a full length Star Trek film without having the appearances of the orginal cast overshadowing the experience. It would've been better if the plot wasn't confusing and if the ending had been executed better.
