About this movie

It's the 23rd century, and a mysterious alien power is threatening Earth by evaporating the oceans and destroying the atmosphere. In a frantic attempt to save mankind, Kirk and his crew must time travel back to 1986 San Francisco where they find a world of punk, pizza and exact-change buses that are as alien as anything they've ever encountered in the far reaches of the galaxy. A thrilling, action-packed Star Trek adventure!

I've probably seen this one more than any other Trek flick, often as a youngster. It's silly, but actually pretty entertaining. It wraps up the "trilogy" of the story started with Wrath of Khan and is pretty fun.

Excellent story-telling, captivating direction, and compelling message. No, i'm not a nature nut, but we don't know when something we destroyed might be needed in the future such as this. I love the interraction between the crew in such an 'alien' world, and i love how Nimoy kept this film in the story arc of the previous two. Should've been nominated for best picture.

Excellent, unique plot, ongoing suspense, surprise turns, yet adventurous, more than, origal series. All characters'personlities show strengths hidden over their history behind formal federation prototocols; their intense closeness and trust; deep affection (not romance), fear, conerns and worries for each other, faith in each other, choice of loyalty to each other more than the federation, willing to risk entire careers and lives for each other. Nimory (Spock) cowrote story and script, bringng back characters' integrity, values, added life's experiences, consistent with history to tv vshows and previous movies. Nimoy's direction brought back true flavor! Added great humor via valid and most probable time travel snags a traveler will encounter on a personal level from culture clash, naivity, misconceptions, not understanding rules or their own awkwardness. We watchit many times and don't tire due to every sentence revealing more, important to characters and plot. It's mesmerizing!
