What a nose dive. I've been somewhat of a Star Trek fan since childhood and have liked the recent films. "Into Darkness" was probably the better of the bunch so was excited too for Idris Elba. Dreadful. Story was meh, and the rediculous way in which the battle is fought towards the end... What the hell were they thinking. Let's keep surfing to the sea please.

If you like explosions and a pointless plot by all means rent but if you're a treky and haven't yet seen this just stay clear. It's not even that it's bad it's just not good. It never really gets good it just stays within the same beat all the way through the movie. The characters are my main issue they are cartoons of the originally crew. At no point do they attempt to break out of their cartoon personas and be something more. Then there is the CGI it's just bad save your self money don't rent

Being a life long sci fi fan this movie is mildly average. The Sfx are ok...all computer generated pap but passable. The story is full of holes and seems to be written by a 8 year old. No doubt this will cater for modern "spoon fed" audiences who don't want to think for themselves. There were a few decent acting moments that actually resemble something from the old Trek. In summary....Bit dull and well overrated.
