About this movie

A same-sex couple moves to a small town so they can enjoy a better quality of life as they raise their 16 year-old daughter. But nothing is as it seems in their picturesque neighborhood. And after Malik witnesses his next-door neighbors hosting some sort of ritualistic gathering, he realizes their status as the new family in town could put them in extreme danger.

First off, my rating has absolutely nothing to do with the social commentary that is somewhat awkwardly put in. However I will say, there are better ways to do it. With that said, the writing is poor and the acting is alright. It felt like it could have been a better movie, I couldn't quite buy his paranoia or suspicions of his neighbors. Nothing they did really came off as sinister. Maybe weird, but nothing really sinister. So it make sense that no one believes him, because I didn't either. I mean obviously there's more going on, but the signs that pointed to it were very weak. There were also some subplots that didn't really make a whole lot of sense. And didn't seem to make any connection to the main plot. And the worst thing of all is this movie is not really scary at all. I mean it's supposed to be horror/thriller but I just didn't buy most of it. I can't recommend this to be bought or even rented. It's more of a Netflix/Amazon stream kind of movie.

I honestly hate that I wasted my time on this dumpster fire of a movie. The ending is completely disappointing and unfulfilling. If I were told that I either had to slog through this 88 minute calamity again or twist one of my own ears off, I would happily do the latter.

The acting was really phenomenal! However, it lost me towards the end. This was more of a psychological thriller (LGBTQ+), rather than a horror. I wish there was a sequel, the story truly had more details to unfold.
