About this movie

Expect the unexpected in Boots Riley’s directorial debut, Sorry to Bother You — an outrageously surreal look at capitalism, corporate greed, and fractured workplace dynamics. In an alternate present-day version of Oakland, California, struggling telemarketer Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield) discovers a magical key to professional success, which propels him into a macabre universe.

Wacked and offbeat. Join in to the good feelings when taking on the oppressors. See what happens when one joins the oppressors. Discover what he discovers. Enjoy a mixed race movie where race is not an issue. An astute pick by my 18 year old that the whole family enjoyed. Be aware...some nudity, sexual situations and language. Would have given 5 stars if production values had been higher.

A unique, generally enjoyable if not slightly too-ambitious comedy with a pretty dark undertone. I was not 'wowed' by the course of the plot, but it had enough elements (cast, jokes, editing) to keep me into it throughout. I expected a larger moral message by the end, which is didn't deliver with as much gravity as I thought it might given the positive reviews. Overall a good time.

This is pretty amazing. Shot very well by newcomer Boots Riley, new to directing that is in 2018, it is one of the most bizzare films ever made. I love the twist though I did know about it a bit already, I had an idea of it. It went beyond that for me though. Also it reminds me of Get Out later on in it, which Lakeith Stanfield was also in. However I can't reccomend watching it due to bad launguage, sexual content, and other things that were offensive.
