About this movie

Somewhere in Time is the story of a young writer who sacrifices his life in the present to find happiness in the past, where true love awaits him. Young Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) is approached by an elderly woman who gives him an antique gold watch and who pleads with him to return in time with her. Years later, Richard Collier is overwhelmed by a photograph of a beautiful young woman (Jane Seymour). Another picture of this woman in her later years reveals to him that she is the same woman who had given him the gold watch. Collier then becomes obsessed with returning to 1912 and the beautiful young woman who awaits him there.

I saw this movie when it first came out. At the time, I was seeking escape from a very painful, failed relationship. I was immediately smitten with the music and the story of how true love can pass through all things and is forever enduring. The acting is superb, the soundtrack perfect to the story and the setting more than enough to draw one to The Grand Hotel, even for just a brief tour. And though somewhat dated, for anyone who is a romantic at heart, this will become a heartthrob event never to be forgotten. Five Stars then, now and forever.

OK so I'm 36 now. I can't recall my exact age but it was when my mom was still in my life and God that's been over half my life time ago. So I would say early teens? 14? 15?. Anyway this movie has the potential to make just about anyone emotional man woman basically anyone who's got a functioning conscience romantics and the not so romantics. Lol. I still get goose bumps. The movie just puts you there in his spot whether you've experienced true love like reeves character or never touched it.

I have been in love with this movie, since the first time i watched it. For me, it never get's old. A lot of critics dismissed it as mushy rubbish. It didn't help, that the release date was postponed due to a strike. But like the movie that goes beyond the bonds of time, the movie found it's place in time, to become a cult classic. Loved by men and women alike.
