It didn't try to take too many risks. The older brother was one of the best actors in the whole movie. There wasn't enough conflict and challenges. There were some characters that were just there and didn't need to as they didn't show a purpose. Some acting was very simple and predictable with the characters, especially in a romantic comedy.

80s. Knew that era well. Around Conor's age then. The story is incredible, heart-warming, inspiring. You want to see the guy get the girl. You could see him falling in love with her. She was fresh but worldly compared to Conor, and you could understand why Conor was drawn to her, as his home life was disintegrating. Then add the component of the music. Remember how when music videos came out, the music was all fresh and new? Not like today, when little seems original or easy to characterize. You hear the soundtrack of 80s post-punk, new wave artists and the original music in the film is easily as fresh as the sound was 30+ years ago. The best movie I have seen in a long, long time!!!

Loooovvvvvvvvveeeeeed it and ill tell u why. On its one as a film it can stand alone as very good . On its own as an original soundtrack with 4, count em FOUR original songs, it could stand alone as very good . Imagine the sheer genius required to conbine both of these elements in an original format FOR BOTH MEDIA. It's nothing short of masterful. You can see how many 5s I give out , usually I reserve the last star for that extra element of brilliance that is social commentary or a difficult story that has to be told .... or that ever rare master stroke where everything clicks and comes together just right at the right time in either my life ir the planets life (ya ik how gosh that sounds , but I dont express myself well through words , they are insufficient to convey .,.well) anyway this film brought 2 elements together and ut was glorious. Amen hallelujah heheh kk as always ... stay golden pony
