About this movie

From the director of PRISONERS comes this taut, critically acclaimed thriller filled with pulse-pounding suspense. After an idealistic FBI agent (Emily Blunt) is recruited by a government task-force official (Josh Brolin) to pursue a drug lord, she begins a perilous mission that forces her to question everything she believes—and pits her against a shadowy consultant (Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro) with a dangerous agenda. To those who are giving this a 1 or 2 star movie, you truly do not understand the cartels reach and impact they have on not only their own people but the impact they have on the world stage and the millions of lives they destroy each day. This movie shows but a small glimpse into that world. What this movie also gives but a mere peek at is what governments must do to combat them. Legal is not the word for their counter defense tactics. It's fighting fire with fire. Overall great movie.

Used free tickets that were about to expire to see this at the cinema. Both thought it was a waste of money!?!??! Enjoyed our coffee after the show!! I didn't realise there was a plot until I read about it here. I can't see why it got such good reviews, but everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinions - I only include mine here to help others decide for themselves.

Very engaging. Realistic even in its action and suspense. What I did not find realistic is that an FBI agent can have idealism. Nowadays all US military, police, intelligence and "security" agencies are so indoctrinated that I didn't swallow Ms. Blunts character that well. However, as a work of fiction I was quite satisfied overall. The acting was very good as well as character development.
