As amazing as Legendary's Godzilla was and as amazing as their sequel, King
of the Monsters, is going to be, Toho proves that there truly is no better
way to enjoy something than to enjoy it homemade. Shin Gojira/Shin
Godzilla/Godzilla Resurgence is a breathtaking and heartstopping spectacle
that holds nothing back. It completely reboots the iconic movie monster we
have known and loved since 1954 and breathes an entirely new kind of life
into him. And given the final shot of the film (not spoiling anything.
You'll have to see for yourself), it looks like things are far from over...
Can't wait to see the next one!

Truly a new-age Godzilla movie. G2014 was garbage in comparison. Anno brings a fresh look feel to the classic monster. In fact, this is probably my favorite incarnation of Godzilla to date. The plot also ties into his meta roots well. The tensions between the US and Japan cooperating in taking down this monster that was originally a metaphor for the nuclear devastation that America put Japan through at the end of WWII are extremely thought-provoking and written in an engrossing fashion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It's incredibly refreshing and endlessly interesting to delve into Shin Godzilla. A film that remembers what makes the character tick: destruction with a purpose. As a critique on how the Japanese government handled the unfortunate disasters in 2011, the movie shines. But it also has the biggest (literally) Monstar on deck in his weirdest form yet. This new version will likely scare off fans of the more traditional creature, and to that I can see why. But "Shin Godzilla" delivers on what matters.
