About this movie

When city police find a murder victim who was somehow forced to die of overeating, it puts veteran Detective William Sommerset and his new, talented but still green partner, Detective David Mills, on a desperate hunt for a serial killer who is making statements by staging his victims as tableaus of the Seven Deadly Sins. The first corpse found was "Gluttony," and soon the detectives find more: a lawyer killed because of his Greed; an insurance scammer killed for his Sloth; a fashion model killed for her Pride. Each murder scene is elaborately planned, the victims chosen specifically because of who they are, and posed methodically in death. With time running out for the last two possible victims -- Envy and Wrath -- can Sommerset and Mills get ahead of the killer before his final two acts come to deadly fruition? Starring Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Gwyneth Paltrow and R. Lee Ermey. Directed by Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominee David Fincher. MPAA Rating: R Rated R for grisly afterviews of horrific and bizarre killings, and for strong language. c) 1995 New Line Productions, Inc. All rights reserved.

I'm going to remain vague. The story surrounds the seven deadly sins, but puts a spin on it. Aside from Fight Club, definitely one of Pitt's best character portrayals. It's on the darker side, obviously and it doesn't flat out state every single detail, so that was nice.

I generally do not enjoy films with this much gore (I closed my eyes during many scenes), but Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman's acting is superb. They portrayed believable, likable characters. Then there's Kevin Spacey, staying true to form as chameleon-esque actor he is, creates his signature style psychopath, the likes you've never seen on film. And the ending. If it weren't for the ending I would not have bothered to review this film.

I have cried during sad scenes while watching movies, but never before have I cried because of the movie as a whole, until now. This movie was insane, yet beautifully executed. It was grotesque, and artistic with magnificent acting from Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. I even continued to play the credits all the way through, so I could listen to the chilling "Hearts Filthy Lesson" by David Bowie. I usually don't watch movies more than once or twice, but I don't mind watching this one seven times in a week. I normally only rent movies on google play, but I think I'll buy this one.
