About this movie

It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley, where for generations the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time. For a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home, the stories become all too real in this spine-tingling film produced by Oscar® winner Guillermo del Toro.

This movie was absolutely amazing. I saw this movie in theatres and it was worth my money. It's one of the only horror movies my dad actually likes, and we went and saw it together. The only other horror movies he would watch is Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original one, The Hills Have Eyes which is one I have yet to see, Silence of the Lambs, and the It series, both old and new.

Fun and engaging movie. There is nothing exactly original in this movie, but it is well cast, well acted, and has an overall fun but scary aspect to it. The creatures are amazingly well done and the characters are flushed out in such a way that you care about them. A tale well told.
