About this movie

John Cusack stars in this critically acclaimed romantic comedy as Lloyd, an optimistic underachiever, who falls for Diane, a beautiful valedictorian (Ione Skye). The great news is that Diane feels the same way about Lloyd. The bad news is that her possessive, grumpy dad (John Mahoney) disapproves. It may take more than the power of love for these two unlikely sweethearts to make it as a couple!

Long, boring, tedious. Completely over-dramatic, Lifetime movie dialog. Some stupid side story thrown in about the girls father stealing money to create some actual content for this movie. Really sexist portrayal of women. I don't understand how this movie is so beloved.

Without a doubt John Cusack and Ione Skye's signature roles as the high school underachiever who wins the heart of the class valedictorian despite her disapproving father. Funny and touching film with great performances from Cusack and Skye.

The beginning was a bit dragging but after the first act, it picks up and adds heart and humor. And the ending gave a fuzzy feeling that felt just right.
