A great story about how the rebel alliance managed to get their hands on the plans to the Death Star. The brave souls responsible and their sacrifice ... Still had all the Star Warsey stuff I expected plus a rather unexpected ex-imperial army droid with a rather amusing way of looking at things. R2D2 and C3PO made a brief appearance as did Princess Leia. I would have liked to see a bit more about the Kyber crystals that were used to power the Death Star's weapon and Light Sabers for that matter. But that's only a minor concern. It explained a lot and opened up a glimpse into behind the scenes that were happening as the main story unfolded. I really liked this movie. The only real criticism I could make is that Darth Vader seemed to move differently and I didn't get that same feeling of menace. I'm mainly talking about head movement. Normally he's completely still and detached but its like they tried to add personality to him in a scene or two. Unnecessary. Overall though great movie.

I believe that this is the only Star Wars movie that Disney has made that actually feels like a Star Wars movie. There weren't any controversial agendas being pushed on the core audience or anything like that. It was just about a ragtag team of rebels against an evil empire. Gender wasn't a thought and it shouldn't need to be. All of the actors were spot on, regardless of gender. I don't like it when things get controversial or complicated if it alienates the core audience. As for the movie itself, it ticks all the right boxes for me. I like my sci-fi to feel old school and dark and I love movies that have a resistance vibe to it. The space battles were awesome and so was the action in general. The story was very well polished also. It's definitely worth watching when you're in the mood for some Star Wars or even just some sci-fi in general.

Rogue One has become an instant favourite with me and, I dare say, many others. It has much of the 'flavour' of the first 3 films (4, 5, and 6) and some equally excellent characters. It has some of the old characters too, and though 2 of them are obviously 'effects driven', it was good to see them. K2 was a cracker as well. As well as the people, the film's music and sound effects gave it a lot of that 'flavour' I am speaking about as did the original uniforms and ships. I will own it as soon as I can and be watching it regularly over the years.
