This film doesn't really celebrate Elton's music. This is partly because Edgerton's voice does not do him justice. But it's also because while the film is good at depicting the lows of his life, it never really allows the highs to have their moment - using some of his most jubilant music like Benny, Rocketman and Yellow Brick Rd to depict depressing scenes from his life. However, Jamie Bell is fantastic as usual.

The acting was phenomenal and they featured Elton's music well throughout the movie. They also did an adequate job of portraying Elton's life. However, this could not save the movie from feeling boring, repetitive, slow paced and somehow copied (in concept) from other movies released earlier than this one.

I'm not sure which one is boring - Elton's story or the making of this film. In the end, this movie is too slow and so monotonous.
