About this movie

Debut director Coralie Fargeat announces her stunning arrival, painting a crimson canvas of hypnotic beauty and bloody retribution in this razor-sharp feminist subversion of the revenge-thriller. Jen (fearlessly embodied by Matilda Lutz, Rings) is enjoying a romantic getaway with her wealthy boyfriend which is suddenly disrupted when his sleazy friends arrive for an unannounced hunting trip. Tension mounts in the house until the situation abruptly––and viciously––intensifies, culminating in a shocking act that leaves Jen left for dead. Unfortunately for her assailants, Jen survives and reemerges with a relentless, wrathful intent: revenge. A white-knuckle tale of transgression and transformation, REVENGE gloriously blurs the lines of vengeance and survival while simultaneously delivering a ferocious dissection of gender and genre.

This movie had an ok premise and storyline. It will draw you in. But it gets boring halfway through. There's no way she could have physically done some of the things she did so that makes it unrealistic and unbelievable. However, the cinematography and close-ups are to die for. I give it a 3 . Not as good as I spit on your grave or last house on the left.

Unfortunately a pretty bad outcome of a very promising concept. Sadly it was realized as a mediocre, sometimes over-the-top B-Movie but all in all not even in a 'good' B-movie campy way. Much of it is also unintentional. Full of stupid decisions by the director and screenwriter. Visually not realistic and sub par. Very unbelievable characters and a story almost continuously threatening to throw you out of the flow while watching.

I was hoping this would be done well and smartly but it was the opposite. The script is very poor as is the acting. Are we suppose to believe she or anyone would survive that fall? Everyone else screams like a baby when they are injured or are pulling things out of bad areas but not our lead girl. I liked the trailer but the lead is just way too young and inexperienced. Not even Rambo burned down a tree piercing through his body and then pull out a life threating limb without flinching just a pass out. Amazing bad and the director writer should stop now! This if treating properly starting with making the fall survivable but not look survivable from up above from the guys view point. It's just silly. Never thought I would say this but I Spit On Your Grave is a step above. It at least is brutal, realistic and doesn't have scenes you need super heroes for. Also Revenge made the girl getting revenge too much of a Bimbo to begin with. For a first time director there are some good things like the setting, photography but even the excessive blood letting is all over the place,. At one time I see off color red "blood" on a car window -- looked like paint!
