This movie is the greatest zombie horror/comedy film I've ever seen. I remember as a child, the video cassette my father had recorded it on when it aired on HBO constantly being in my vcr. As time went on and video cassettes were replaced with dvds, I anxiously anticipated ROTR2's release to relive the majesty and uniqueness of my zombie holy grail. the DVD began, but something seemed not quite right. There was an opening dialogue that wasn't familiar, a backstory narrated instead of the music that was being played through the headphones of the driver..... Then I heard what sonically equates to musically farting on a snare drum.... the most embarrassing overdubbed cliche synth tones that immediately caused me to hulk rage like a child who's ice cream fell off his cone and onto a dirt path.. for those who haven't seen this film in its original format, it's original score was the most perfectly orchestrated sequences of stringed instruments that created the whole foundational atmosphere that I fell in love with. its original score is available if you watch the DVD in french, but again... still sucks having one without the other. Seek out the original movie and you'll see

From the synopsis above, I'd assume that whoever writes them obviously doesn't research their facts. The first Return of the Living Dead was not a rip-off from NOTLD, as it was actually written by John Russo, who co-produced NOTLD with Romero. However, John wanted to go a different direction with the genre than did Romero, so he made the original ROTLD. ROTLD part II is a great sequel, not a remake or a revision. It features the return of some actors from the first ROTLD, but with a whole new set of chills and thrills to tickle your funny bone. I highly recommend this film for anyone who loves a good laugh and a good zombie movie!

ROTLD 2 came out as a huge disappointment to the originals fans, and in a sense it was but if you can get away from the fact that it was a seguel, this movie has alot to offer the Zombie movie aficionado. It can be compared to a mash-up of ROTLD meets the Goonies. The targeted the movie as a comedy for jaded 13 year olds and that works in its favor. There are some nightmarish set-ups and special effects but the comedy sort of buffers the hard-core zombie fan...
