Has all the feel of a sequel too far and one that was made on an even tighter budget. There's a massive jump in continuity from the previous movie in the series, and, while this is kinda typical for RE movies, what's missing is the massive battle for Washington DC we were looking forward to. And all the characters we were invested in. Instead we get an extended series of things happening, some of which are very loud and pyrotechnically impressive but none of which really matter, until we get to the final showdown between Alice and the movie's big bad. Even this denouement is a disappointment, a damp squib of a capstone on Alice's epic. It sort of wraps things up, I guess. But while I've watched each of the other movies numerous times, I doubt I'll be spending any more cash to revisit this last instalment. It's the Star Wars prequels of RE - I accept it exists, but I'm not going to put myself through watching it again.

It's not a direct sequel to the previous film. You have to imagine a whole film inbetween them, where the Washington dead are destroyed, Wesker loses his powers, most of Alice's friends are killed, Alice loses her powers, and the events of the second film happen in an alternate reality. There is such a gulf between the two films that you have to surmise the missing segment was abandoned for reasons of cost, or a falling out between the producers and the director. And whilst i found it enjoyable, it makes no sense whatsoever.

This was super dumb, which is just what I wanted. There were clones, and zombies, and explosions and motorcycles, and evil AIs, and cryogenics, and lasers, and fighting, wolves, crushy doors, slicy fans, spies, cyborgs, disease, giant corporations, everything. All of those things, this film had. I had a really tough week at work and I did nothing all day, and I wanted to watch something dumb, and this was that thing. Milla Jovovich shot some people, and stabbed some other people, and poured gasoline on some more people. Those last people were in a beefy tank. The tank was spacious.
