About this movie

Warren Beatty's award winning epic mixes drama and interviews with major social radicals of the period. "Reds" tells the story of the love affair between activists Louise Bryant and John Reed. Set against the backdrop of the tumultuous start of the twentieth century, the two journalists' on-again off-again romance is punctuated by the outbreak of WWI and the Bolshevik Revolution. Louise's assignment in France at the outbreak of the war puts an end to their affair. John Reed's subsequent trip to Russia, and his involvement with the Communist party, rekindles their relationship. When Louise arrives in Petrograd, she finds herself swept up in the euphoria of the Revolution. Reed, however, eventually becomes disillusioned with Communism when he sees his words and intentions augmented and controlled by the growing Soviet propaganda machine.

In simple words, "Reds", Warren Beatty's Epic Historical Masterpiece gets my vote for being the greatest movie EVER MADE - - anywhere, at any time. Watch it in it's entirety, and if you have even the slightest knowledge of history in the 20th Century, try to write a coherent review differing with my above conclusion. I don't mind if you actually succeed, but this movie is preserved in the SPECIAL COLLECTION in the United States Library of Congress and Curated by the Smithsonian Institution. It is listed as on of the 10 Greatest Movies ever made. I have simply promoted it to #1, whatever it's resting place was or is. At any rate, enjoy, and listen to the "Witnesses" who were actually there to see these events as they transpired. NO MOVIE EVER HAS GONE TO GREATER LENGTHS TO PRESERVE AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF WORLD HISTORY, AND STUCK TO "JUST THE FACTS, MA'AM". Enjoy, and THANK YOU WARREN BEATTY FOR YOUR EPIC MASTERPIECE OF WORLD HISTORY AT THE DAWN OF THE 20TH CENTURY...

Warren Beatty's Reds (director and lead actor) won best director against Steven Spielbergs "Indiana Jones: and the Raiders of the Lost Arch" in the Academy Awards. Listed within the honorable AFI (American Film Institution) top 100 list. This is truly an epic not seen anymore in cinema and is even more meaningful during these Russian Olympics. Shows realistic events of the Russian Revolution and how much corruption was involved on both sides. This is based on a true story, feels like a biography. 11/10
