Spike Lee is trying too hard to preach except there's a Jesus image on the walls that's a symbol for freemasons. Two crosses besides a freemasons Jesus image. The songs being sung in the church aren't lifting my spirits. It's a dead work. How can you worship the devil but preach about God? Spike Lee knows God exists but he's not living right and this movie reflects it. It's great what he's trying to express, Praise ye the LORD. But it's not working in this script.

I'm a huge Spike Lee fan. This film featured some themes that Lee doesn't often address, such as the Black church & its role in that community. After watching this movie I told EVERYONE about it & urged them to see it immediately. Clarke Peters' performance was harrowing! McBride did some wonderful writing also. Those sermons were amazing!

This movie is definitely not for everybody. It's slow-paced about hard topics without clear answers. Nevertheless great movie.
