About this movie

Red Army is a feature documentary about the Soviet Union and the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain Slava Fetisov, the story portrays his transformation from national hero to political enemy. I've been a hockey fan for over 18 years and this has to be one of my favorite hockey films. Such an amazing look at the dominant Red Army Hockey Team and their life in the cold war era Soviet Union, in addition to several players transition into the NHL. My only qualm is that I wish it was a tad bit longer and that I wish they had spoken to more Soviet Era Players. Regardless its a great film and F*** the "Academy" for snubbing "Red Army" and not even nominating it for Best Documentary at the 2015 Oscars.

The story behind the story of how the Soviet hockey team and country succumbed from within, handing the U.S. a pair of "victories."
