From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s estseller of the same name. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a reakneck, realitybending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

I am just going to throw this out there. It may not deserve a full five stars, but it gets close. Definitely rides the nostalgia train through the whole movie and does it very well. I actually kind of loved the movie. CGI was done masterfully, acting was extraordinary, and the premise was brilliant. Bought it as soon as it hit Blu ray. 4.6/5 stars for me

As someone who hasn't read the book, i loved it. Now i cannot wait to read the book. The idea of an immersive VR is so great. I hope to live long enough to see it in my lifetime.

Amazing movie! I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. Jason, Freddy, Spawn, king Kong and on and on. Great music. References to tons of old games! I could watch this movie weekly and be just as sucked in as I was tge first time I saw it! Parzivsl, Art3mis, Aech, Daito and Shoto.....amazing!
