About this movie

Set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse, but the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

A movie that tries to compensate for it's lack of substance by baiting it's audience with nostalgia. The soundtrack totally missed the mark half the time, putting a song's popular notability above it's appropriateness for the scene in question. The film's purpose seems to be to have its audience constantly searching for references they recognise, so they might remain distracted from the weak plot and feeble character development and chemistry. Save your money and buy a Where's Wally book instead -- you would get about the same experience.

An interesting movie that if we just look at the hidden message they leave at the end of the movie about closing it on Tuesday and Thursday we should take away from it all that we are more than likely in some version of that already. With no way to turn it off on Tuesdays or Thursdays ourselves. The truth of reality is something so hidden by our own observation of what we think it is that we can even see the vision that we are having to see reality is our own creation. We to are created.EDWARD

A passable film, not the strongest film ever produced by Steven Spielberg. Terrible book to movie adaption, can keep anything but the names of the characters the same. Read the book or watch something else, don't waste your time with this film.
