About this movie

RAW made its World Premiere in Cannes Critics Week where it won the coveted FIPRESCI Prize and left audiences aghast with some of the most shocking and powerful on-screen imagery since Gaspar Noe’s IRREVERSIBLE.RAW tells the story of Justine, a promising young student who joins her sister at a prestigious veterinary college. On entering the school, she steps into a decadent, merciless and dangerously seductive world beyond her wildest imaginings. During a first week filled with extreme hazing rituals, desperate to fit in, she defies her vegan upbringing and eats raw meat for the first time. From here she develops an insatiable desire for flesh – of all types - and what we witness is a coming-of age like no other, an awakening that is both carnal and primal that takes Justine on a journey that is as harrowing and as it is beautiful..

I was hoping for something stylishly french and intense, but it's more college Springbreakers than Martyrs, sadly, and none of it is in the least funny or scary. (Except for the dog). Annoying characters, trivial themes, few good visual moments, average makeup, poor casting and continuity, terrible music, moderate horror, hokey ending. Has the worst subtitles I've ever seen.

Woah Raw was as weird as it was incredible. Starts off slow, but builds tension to the final shocking scene that will definitely shock some viewers. This is a thinking person's Zombie flick. A feast for the eyes and the senses ( and for their stomachs😝).

Not for the weak-stomached but if you can simultaneously appreciate a great story within gruesome surroundings, I highly recommend.
