About this movie

World-renowned big game trapper Harry Stanton (Robert Mitchum) is commissioned by a German zoo to capture The Enchantress; a mythical Malaysian beast purported to be half-tiger/half-leopard, and finds himself teamed with the venerable but aging hunter Otto Abbott (Jack Hawkins) and his seductive young mistress Anna (Elsa Martinelli). Tensions soar when Abbott discovers the younger Stanton has his sights set on Anna and -- in a fit of rage and paranoia -- goes on a rampage before moving in for the kill. Death is the law of the jungle in this steamy action-adventure, where survival demands keeping your eye on the prize.

It was a decent movie, a bit too engrossed to reveal the realism of the quasi-jungle setting and the male egos of two unrepentant hunters, one a hunter of animals, the other, of female humans. I might have made the movie a bit more about the backgrounds of the three main characters and less about why one of the men had to win the lady! A solid three out of five stars!
