Haunting atmosphere, eerie visuals, strong cast and that self abortion scene... I feel this film is very good despite some flaws that everybody is so ready to point out. The only thing what was disappponting is its sequel. I loved Numi Rapace and Ridley Scott vision. He managed to take the old sci fi classic (and a bit worn out by now Alien universe) and reanimate it again. Shame he did that sequel Alien Covenant. What a waste of good characters. ...Anyway I love Ridley Scott's work.

This film got hyped a great deal and with Ridley Scott promising the film would be really "nasty" I hoped it would rival Alien but then I went to see it in the cinema and it was terrible. There are so many things they could have done with this and produced a superb film but it was muddled, not scary and the plot was a yawnfest. Damon Lindelof has come in for a lot of criticism for his treatment and rightly so. Plot holes and not answering questions is lazy writing. A real letdown.

Not sure why there are so many positive reviews when the movie is full of character indescrepencies, plot holes and the greatest moment where we suspend our belief that straight after getting your stomach stitched you are free to get up and run around a space ship like nothing ever happened. This movie is another nail in the coffin for the 'Alien' franchise. This leads me to believe that people are far too lead by special effects and musical scores to notice a stupid script, goofy acting and unbelievable characters.
