Disappointing hot mess. Problematic portrayal of gender/trans/sexuality issues. Really wanted to like this film but it just didn't hit the mark for me. The script was occasionally great but was let down by some inconsistent characterisation and a not-quite-clever-enough plot. Sarah Snook was amazing and there were some good feminist moments (portraying women's lack of self-determination) and not so good ones (a lack of positive female relationships ). Little diversity but could be worse.

Near perfect Science Fiction time travel story with gender as major topic. Acting by Ethen Hawk and Sarah Snook is outstanding, very good use of a small budget. The original story, '—All You Zombies—', was written by Robert A. Heinlein on 11th July 1958 so in many ways was ahead of its time in tackling subject of intersex. Some might be challenged by the 1950'ish moral/social views, Heinlein tended to write for how the world might be based on how it was, he was something of cynic.

One of the better films dealing with time travel paradoxes, and identity. I'm impressed that it's an Australian film, since smaller Australian movies seem to lack depth and production standards - both of which, in this film, are held up quite high. This is an intriguing film. I'm glad I have some time to watch it again since it deserves to be. I'm struck by the fact that the central time paradox really resolves itself or not, so I look forward to taking a second look! The goal of the movie, from the producers and directors point of view, I think would be happy with the paradox _I_ subsequently feel left in!
