About this movie

When Ash Ketchum oversleeps on his 10th birthday, he ends up with a stubborn Pikachu instead of the first partner Pokémon he wanted! But after a rocky start, Ash and Pikachu become close friends and true partners—and when they catch a rare glimpse of the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh in flight, they make plans to seek it out together, guided by the Rainbow Wing it leaves behind. Trainers Verity and Sorrel join Ash on his journey. Along the way, Ash catches an abandoned Charmander, raises a Pokémon from Caterpie to Butterfree and then releases it to follow its heart, and meets the mysterious Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. When they near their goal, the arrogant Cross—Charmander’s former Trainer—stands in their way! Can Ash and Pikachu defeat this powerful Trainer and reach Ho-Oh as they promised, or will their journey end here?

It's an enjoyable movie for every Pokémon fan, especially fans of the original series. While I havent seen all the movies this movie does definitely feel more like an actual movie than previous ones, which felt more like advertisements for the games. This is one of the best Pokémon movies in a long time, but it does rely too much on nostalgia of the original series and this stops it from being its own thing quite often. There are a few ups and downs through out the movie but it is still good.

Oh my god. This is the most unwatchable garbage I have ever had the misfortune to witness. Basically zero plot and a series of pointless pokemon battles. Supposedly something to do with Ash becoming the rainbow hero but no explanation about what that even means. Even my daughter who loves pokemon thought it was trubbish.

Went to see it in theaters and loved it, maybe because of the amazing community but also because the movie was fantastic, there is a certain part that kills the flow of the movie and holds it back from being perfect. It's no Pokemon Heroes or Temple of the sea but it's still an amazing movie! 4/5
