If you're looking for a movie that's spicy and hot like a stiff drink with plenty of explosion, this one will disappoint. We all know that Nicholas Cage is an action movie hero. Here, he's not rescuing prisoners out of stolen airplanes, or trying to get his face back from John Travolta. Nor is he selling arms to African generals. It's made to be like an afternoon tea, or a very fine port. Savored. Enjoyed in all its subtlety and layers of flavor. Robin Williams made some of the funniest movies, but with Fisher King, an award winning emotional film that left us in awe, Robin Williams showed he could play many roles. Here, Nicholas Cage produces a stellar performance in a role you would never expect him to play. Much like the baseline of the movie, it's an exquisite dinner quality to it, not a drive through download. You'll think parts leave you hanging by accident, but they're very well orchestrated to leave you to work in the gaps so you can "feel" the depths of the characters. If you go into this movie looking for a quality, rich movie that carries you slowly through deep human subject matter, then it will be of great appeal. grab that afternoon tea or 20 year old port, and hit play. You'll enjoy the depth of the cast, the storyline and most importantly, the dance of human experience. If you enjoy depth, this one is for you. If entertainment filled with explosions, battles and gore is your thing, you'll probably want to see the newest action adventure "The Protege'. It's a movie that'll drop you off and make you think back through it's nuances. It won't give you the information, but instead allows it to slowly form within you. Those who can appreciate the finer side of artistical theatre will definitely enjoy this one.

Despite the implication of violence over losing what seems to be at first just an instrument, the story took me to a place that I'd not expected one in which Nic Cage stars to take me. The movie's tone, pace, and music reminded me of a few scenes in City Of Angels. Although he did not come out of the woods to bring bloody revenge, Cage's character still was well-armed. I absolutely loved the subtle but deeply painful exchange with the chef who he had known before. Combined with his unknown past and the growing mystique of who he was--demonstrated by the weight and effect of just using his name, I felt the climax of the movie was as delicate, tasteful, and special as one of the dishes he prepared. I forgot that I kinda like that melancholic, open-ended stuff.

One of the most deep and emotional movies I've watched in a long time. The premise of a missing pig seems silly at first, but soon you realize that story is just the catalyst for many more truly deep rooted character realizations and reflections, you'll see what is really the basis for this movie. Might be a good one to watch solo to see how it's premise might reflect in your own life.
