About this movie

Michael (Ewan McGregor) is a chef. Susan (Eva Green) is an epidemiologist. They meet one evening as many people do. Both damaged in their different ways, they flirt, share cigarettes, and before too long, they fall in love. But this is not a typical love story. As their love strengthens, so too does a pandemic which is steadily robbing the world's population of sensory perceptions. First to go is the sense of smell. Next is taste. But as the disease spreads across the world, so too does the realisation that the human race will always adjust, will always adapt.

Part romance, part apocalyptic thriller, PERFECT SENSE illustrates that while the future is uncertain, one thing is for sure: without love, there is nothing. 2010 Sigma Films Limited / Zentropa Entertainments5 ApS / Subotica Ltd / BBC

A good friend recommended I watch this movie with the instruction "don't read the synopsis ... just watch it!" I followed his direction and I can understand why he suggested this - the effect of this movie was probably more deeply moving ... unsettling ... and fascinating as a result. As the story unfolded, so too came wave upon wave of thoughts and emotions, tumbling, rolling ... I appreciate movies that make me think, stop me in my tracks, weave into my dreams and meet me on waking. Only a few movies leave me in this state - this is one of those.
