Overboard

Huge Faris fan. So I actually looked forward to seeing this. However, this remake seriously lacked humour and the acting seemed very wooden. The two girls who play Faris' daughters seem to show promise as young actresses though. If the synopsis sounds like a watch, I'd fully recommend the original. This remake felt like I was watching a special TV movie.

Sad. I loved the original with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Anna Faris is plausible and funny but the other guy is utterly miscast and about 20 years too old to make it work. Hawn (in the original) was a stuck up elitist who was knocked down to Earth. Eugenio Derbez is just an assh*le. Didn't work for me.

I dare say most of these reviews are from people that enjoyed the original with Russell/Hawn and were curious what this film would be like. The original is the better film of the two but I still found myself laughing at this remake and enjoyed the characters. A great friday evening family film.
