About this movie

An extraordinary true story, Oranges and Sunshine is a powerful and provocative tale of courage and compassion from the producers of The King's Speech. Margaret Humphreys (Emily Watson), is an ordinary social worker from Nottingham who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals of recent times: the deportation of thousands of children from the United Kingdom to Australia. Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own well-being, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and drew worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice. 2010 Sixteen Midlands (Oranges) Limited/ See-Saw (Oranges) Films PTY LTD/ Screen Australia/ Screen NSW / South Australian Film Corporation. I'm a young Australian and was never taught this in school while there,, only found out about this crazy history last year through a mental health TAFE course. This film is an amazing and necessary story heartbreaking but so glad I watched it.

Very heavy theme but enlightening about a topic some of us would be otherwise unaware of. Emotional but for me worth the time & money.
