For all those people out there who rate a movie solely on their capability to understand the real meaning behind things, I feel sorry for you. I'll admit, this movie did have me confused at the end at first (and the very beginning, I could have done without for sure...) but then I really thought about it and it all fell into place. If you are into movies where everything is so straight to the point and action 24/7, dont watch this movie and then rate it saying you dont understand. This movie is for a specific type of crowd who is okay with a little bit of empty space here and there. If you cant use your brain a little bit and grasp the movie as a whole, then thats a shame, but that doesnt make the movie bad. I personally loved this film once I was able to put all the pieces together. And yes, the pieces may not come together until well after the credits are rolling if you arent used to metaphor heavy films...but it was well worth my time.

Ugh. Not the worst movie I've ever seen, but definitely not worth spending any money or time on. Overall, just a really annoying movie full of plot holes and head scratchers. Sure, maybe there's a deeper meaning than what is happening on the surface but overall it was poorly done. I gave it two stars instead of one because Amy Adams and Michael Shannon are really good in it.

The first 5 mins sets tone for the film. There is a good story in here about a man who seeks revenge for a double homicide but it's interlaced with a very boring main character who is depressed and questioning her place in the world. I would have liked this film more if Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't such an annoying character. He must have fallen for no reason at least 20 times. Some people will hate it and others will love it.
