As an autistic person myself, I found the portrayal of Music to be very distasteful. Kate Hudson's character has her road to redemption story arc which is mediocre at best and Music (as in the character) is used really as a plot diverse. But the main issue is with the use of restraints in the film. I can't believe these scenes are in the movie and that it is basically endorsed in the film. Just a bad movie!

I watched this film and was saddened to see the lies and false information about autistic & disabled people. The film used terms that the Nazis used to describe autistic people, and was not played by a non-autistic actor - The autistic character ( music ) looks like a mockery, It looks exactly how people would bully and mock other autistic people. It is a shame this is out. On top of all this, The film itself really isn't that good, It is very stereotypical and there are many holes in the story line, The music is very 'Disney' and stereotypical, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

As an autistic person, I have the following problems here. 1. Non-autistic actress playing autistic character 2. Representation of restraining during a meltdown, which can and does kill autistic people 3. Zero trigger warnings for the above 4. Incredibly stereotypical representation of "autism" This movie doesn't try at all, is awful and is a step in the wrong direction for representing autism in the media.
