A great performance from the lead actor. The film is let down by unclear relationships and messy introductions of characters plus a lack of informative subtitles e.g Royal Academy of Art plus Year. But those audience members who already know about Mr Turner's life and work this film is a great treat. But then again Mr Turner was known for mumbling.

...Made worse by glowing reviews that drove me to see it. Totally unlikable protagonist and no story arc to speak of. Boring, dull, drivel; don't risk it.

Mr Turner... your paintings are a delight to the eye, and sweet music to the mind... Timothy Spall captured all the nuances of his colourful palette in his acting. It is a movie flowing at the speed of a winding river but the varnishing put on by the actors is worth a toast.
