About this movie

The road to true love is paved with knives and bullets in this killer comedy starring Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell. Unlucky in love and with terrible taste in men, Martha (Anna Kendrick) bumps into Francis (Sam Rockwell) and finally meets the man of her dreams. Sweet and charming, he seems the perfect match until Martha discovers Francis is a world-class assassin whose enemies are trying to kill him and can’t quite decide as body counts rise whether to join in the mayhem or dump him. Also starring Tim Roth, Anson Mount and the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Mr. Right is a rollicking romp bursting with action and laughs! (Original Title - Mr. Right) - 2016 Focus Features. Love Sam Rockwell but I have to wonder how he got roped into this one. Way too much going on. Lots of loose ends and pointless scenes/side plots but the story seriously sucks anyway. It's like someone seriously attentive to details wrote this. But they also suffer from ADHD so they never finish scenes or follow up. Creepy age difference between Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick. Really really really bad acting on Kendrick's part. In fact during some scenes it seemed completely poorly improvised. Yikes.

Overall I quite liked this movie; it doesn't really do anything new or have any big twists, but it's a nice, fun movie with charming leads who keep it afloat. Sam Rockwell is great as always, Anna Kendrick keeps her character from falling in to a total Manic Pixie Dream Girl state, and the plot moves fast enough that it doesn't bog down or get repetitious. Call it 85/100, not great, but a good fluff movie.

Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick are delightful in this movie. Being fans of them individually, I was excited with how fun they were on screen together. This movie is very rushed, so there are some flow issues. I feel like everything happens really fast, and we don't get a chance to get to know the characters. This is also a very silly premise, but it worked for me. It really needed more character building, but the two main actors made this very enjoyable for me. If you're a fan of comedies and these two actors then you'll have a good time. Otherwise it's not an overly great comedy.
